Area Attractions

Loon Lake is located up the Gunflint Trail, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). Loon Lake is near BWCAW entry points #47, #48 and #49.

Loon Lake is also close to the Border Route Hiking Trail, which runs between the United States and Canada.

Along the Gunflint Trail and in nearby Grand Marais, you will find opportunties for golf, tennis, shopping, sightseeing, fine restaurants, sailing, boating, swimming, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, miniature golf, live theatre, galleries and horseback riding.

#47 Lizz and Swamp Lakes

#48 Meeds Lake

Method of travel is paddle. Access from Poplar Lake into Meeds Lake with a 220 rod portage. Many options for trips with additional portages. NOTE: For entry at Lizz and Swamp Lakes see Entry Point #47. For more information, please call the Gunflint Ranger Station in Grand Marais at (218)387-1750.

#49 Skipper and Portage Lakes
